MEDICAL WASTE
STERILIZER |
|
Now Sterilize and dispose
Medical waste by CHLORITREAT Sterilizer without hazardous chemicals or
incineration.
CHLORITREAT Sterilizes medical waste in
a safe and cost effective manner. It
does not use any costly or hazardous chemicals.
Only POWER, SALT and WATER are required for sterilizing the waste.

|
CHLORITREAT APPLICATION
IN MEDICAL WASTE DISPOSAL
|
|
As per the guidelines of
THE BIO-MEDICAL WASTE MANAGEMENT
AND HANDLING RULES 1998, the following categories of waste are to be
treated by disinfection / deformation prior to disposal.
|
|
SCHEDULE - I |
WASTE CATEGORY |
| Category-4 |
Waste sharps - Needles,
syringes, scalpels, blades, glass. |
| Category-7 |
Solid waste - PVC items,
blood bags, urine bags, gloves, masks, tubing's, catheters intravenous
sets. |
| Category-8 |
Liquid waste - Laboratory
waste, washing and cleaning, other disinfecting activities. |
| Category-10 |
Chemical Waste. |

CHLORITREAT
Produces 1% Sodium Hypochlorite |
|
 |
|
|
OPERATION OF CHLORITREAT
|
-
Fill
45 litres of water in a sterilizing tank and add 3 Kgs. of Common Salt.
-
Switch
on the CHLORITREAT STERILIZER and leave it for 18 hours for generation of
Sodium Hypochlorite of 1% concentration.
-
Now
the solution is ready to receive the waste.
-
Put
the waste in the basket provided with the equipment under loosely packed
condition.
-
Immerse
the basket with the waste into the solution in the generator and leave it
for 30 minutes. During the
contact time, the active Sodium Hypochlorite generated Sterilizes the
waste. The unit will be in
operation even when the waste is dipped in the sterilizer tank.
-
Remove
the basket and allow it to drain the drain tray for a few minutes.
-
Now
the next batch of waste can be dipped for treatment. Like wise, 6 batches of waste can be safely treated each day.
-
The
waste is then sent to the deforming equipment for compacting.
-
Drain
the solution of the tank to the common sewer by opening the drain valve.
-
This
solution also helps in disinfecting drainage lines and prevents clogging.

TEST
PROCEDURE FOR MOTHER LIQUOR – SODIUM HYPOCHLORITE |
|
Prior to charging each
batch of waste into the sterilizer the Mother Liquor is tested for
available Chlorine. For
accurate test an analytical kit is provided and for quick testing Chlorine
residual paper is provided.
|
|
LIQUID AND CHEMICAL WASTE TREATMENT
|
|
CHLORITREAT
produces 1% concentration of sodium hypochlorite which can be used for
treating the liquid and chemical waste.
CHLORITREAT solution is added in sufficient quantity and the waste
checked for free residual chlorine availability which is an indicator for
BOD, and COD destruction.
CHLORITREAT
method of waste disposal is not only effective and economical but also has
the following advantages :
-
Safe
technology. No hazardous
chemical handling.
-
Uses
only Common salt, Water and Power
-
Simple
in operation. Does not
require special training for operation.
-
Very
rugged and reliable, easy to maintain equipment gives you years of trouble
free service.
-
It
is the most economical way of waste disposal compared to all other methods
– both in capital and operation costs.
-
Helps
Hospital in ensuring Community Health and Environmental safety.
